25. Precious

It was a great movie. That film is about a 16 years girl who is living in Harlem with her mother. She had second child from her father. As Pecola she had a child and raped from her father and also she is ugly( she is thinking like that). She I mean Precious wanted to have white skin and brunette hair.( there is a scene that she is brushing her hair and she is looking at her image actually imagination) She has some problems with her mother because her mother does not like her I think. Her mother behaves her daughter as a thing which helps to continue of her life even we can understand she says when Precious and Mariah Carey's characater have a meeting with Precious's mother, she says that I wanted to have my husband's whole love but Precious had that love and who is going to love me?please say... When I heard that, I just shocked because she is thinking herself even her husband raped her daughter!!!!!

There is a woman who changes Precious's life, I liked her because Precious does not have self- esteem before she met with her. She could understand she can handle with the problems. Besides that Precious wanted to be a "star" like Pauline. Also I recall that there is a scene which she is looking her photographs and photographs are talking with her as Pecola has imaginary friend.

24. The Bluest Eye

Pauline,

She is 9th or 11th children of her family and I think according to that reason her family ignored her. Also, her family migrates from Alabama to Kentucky, when she is a little girl. She met Cholly when she is 15. They marry and move far up to the north.
Pauline has a few friends. Because of Cholly refuses to give her money, she begin to work as housekeeper for white family but she loses the job because Cholly goes there ( he is drunk) to take money from her. White woman, who is employer of Pauline, says Pauline if you leave Cholly I'll give your money otherwise I would not. After that, Pauline becomes pregnant. While she is pregnant, her life is lonely.

The part which she is giving her 2nd birth, there is some sayings about Black women.
In that part that saying tell us that "Black women are like horses, they have no pain".I do not like that part because I know they are human as we're. These people ,who say Black people are different, are humiliating them. After the birth, she find permanent job and she starts o work for white family, who called Fisher's.

This is Pauline's brief story. I forgat the mention Pauline is not attractive and beautiful woman. She does not like to have sex with Cholly and she is disgusting from having sex. These two part affect me and they give some messages about how black people suffered from having some judgements about them.

23. The Bluest Eye part 5 "character analyses"

Cholly:

He was father of Pecola and Sammy and also husband of Pauline. He abondoned by his mother when he was four days old and taken in by his great Aunt Jimmy. His mother vanished. When he was a teenager, he had a friend who was called Blue. Blue was a black, old man who worked at food store. He learnt that he had a father and he tried to find him. He found him but his father rejected him as a son.His early teens Cholly's Great Aunt Jimmy became sick and an older black woman named M'dear warned Aunt Jimmy for getting better she should drink pot liquor and nothing else.Aunt Jimmy ate peach coppler and then died. When his Aunt's funeral was happening, he went to the river with a girl, who was Darlene. They began to sex but their sex was interrupted from two white hunters. They said Cholly that he should be faster and good to be able to finish his issue with Darlene.Cholly was humiliated and powerless, while it was happening. He countinued to having sex with her until hunters got bored and left there. By the way he heard Pauline was pregnant, he went next to her and married with her.One saturday afternoon spring,Cholly was totally drunk, he raped his daughter because she was straching her like her mother's did when Cholly and Pauline met. At the end of the book, he died at working place.

It was his story in the book. I realized something about him and here it is:(there is some sayings about him from the narrator.)

- He was free, dangreously free
- Free to feel whatever he felt, fear, guilt, shame, love, grief, pity
- Free to be tender or violent,to whistle or weep
- Free to sleep in doorways or between the white sheets of a singing woman
- Free to take a job, free to leave it
- He could go to jail and not feel imprisoned, for he had already seen the furtiveness in the eyes of his jailer, free to say," No, suh," and smile, for he had already killed three white men.
- Free to take woman'S insults, for his body had already conquered hers
- Free even to knock her in the head, for he had already cradled that head in his arms.
- Free to be gentle when she was sick, or mop her floor, for she knew what and where his maleness was.
- He was free to drink himself into silly heplessness, for he had already been a gandy dancer, done thirty days on chaing gang, and picked woman's bullet out of the calf of his leg.
- He was free to live his fantasies, and free even to die, the how and when of which held no interest for him.( p.159)

So, we can see he has nothing to loose when his great Aunt Jimmy's death. I do not like him so much because whatever happens he should not rape his daughter. I think writer tries to show us the tragedy of black men's for that period of time. They were powerless but they had to protect their family and even theirselves.

22. The Bluest Eye part 4

I realized that writer tries to show us by giving the events before and then she gave us why characters such as Cholly and Pauline behave like that because first we see the events and then we read their story and understand that is why they're acting like that.

I think writer does that because she wants to create a picture of having streotyping or how having negative ideas could affect people. If we consider that information which I realized may be you can see that too. You know black people suffered so much and also they still have some problems because many people have an idea about black people. I think it still affects people's behaviour in America.

In briefly, I realized that first you read the events and with having these informations you could have bad impression but actually it would not be right because they are not like that. I mean If you have some ideas for other people, you could affect from that ideas and after a while you could understand these ideas are bad because they have some gaps. These gaps would fulfilled only your feelings about them.

Writer uses that gaps and she tries to show that thing is bad because many people suffered from that ideas in different ways like Cholly.

21. The Bluest Eye part 3 "American Dream"

In the book, there is a strict distinction between black people's living conditions and white people's living condition. We can also see that distinction is showing from their sky. White people's living area has blue sky but black people's living area is more polluted than white's. That distiction helps to understand that the theme of discrimination.

In addition in the book there is some detailed explanations about families appereance because there is American Dream and it includes a perfect family, mother takes care of their children and father who works all day and then would come to the home, children who go to the school from their marvelous house. Geraldine's family is one example of perfect family in the book I think because Geraldine, mother of Junior,is married with Louis and she has a cat. They live in nice house, next to playground of Washington Irving school. Her house is too clean and arranged. Here is the American Dream.

20. The Bluest Eye part 2 "American Beauty"

This the part which is I'm going to talk about American Beauty.

In the book, beauty is one of it's themes and one of the main character is so ugly than you can imagine and that girl who is I'm talking about Pecola. Pecola wants to her eyes turns into "Blue" because there is streotyping about ideal women. If you want to be look like ideal women, you should have blond hair with blue eyes and having a pretty appereance. (I mean girl/woman would have look like Beyonce:)You know Beyonce has big lips and hip, So she has all black people's physical appearence.Besides that the first part of the book is telling about ideal beauty because when Pecola had a chrismas gift, she had a baby doll and then she got angry with that.Nobody had to give a gift for her and she did not want to have a baby doll because there was ideal beauty.(page 19,20,21)

Also there was idealization of black people. There is "funk" word I think it means being black and it refers to form of black people's appereance. "... They hold their behind in for fear of sway too free; when they wear lipstick, they never cover the entire mouth for fear of lips too thick, and they worry, worry, worry about edges of their hair"( pg. 83).

At the end of the book, Pecola would has blue eyes and she would become "mad" because writer tries to show us that beauty is not a good thing because it is destructive and changes people to people.

19. The Bluest Eye part 1

The week which we past and in the spring break, we read the book which is called The Bluest Eye. It was a great book because I think writer wants to show how people are divided into two parts in their country and how it affects the people who are discriminated from other which they think they are superior one.The part, which Pecola was delivering her father's baby and she got the birth but after a while she lost her baby and then she became mad, is most effective part in the book, I guess because there was writer themes, which are discrimination, beauty and lack of love. For discrimination we can see the part of there was a gossip about Pecola and her father. That gossip affected Pecola I guess because she became mad and she had an imaginary friend. She told her all problems to her imaginary friend. We can see that froming of imaginary friend causes of lack of love and discrimination because she had nobody to talk with her. The gossip affected her friend's relationship with her in terms of bad way because they began not to talk with Pecola.

Meanwhile Claudia could not escape from thinking of Pecola's baby because Pecola was ugliest one and her baby would be ugly than her and that's why Claudia was waiting the birth impatiently. When the birth was happened and the baby was born prematurely but after a while baby was death. I think there is a metaphor because of Pecola had blue eyes and she felt that she was beautiful but she had the thing which she could not have and she was punished because of that thing. In the final part of the book, there is not any saying about Claudia.

This is my first interpretations about the book, the other parts would be I'm going to talk about.:)
